David Owen Hastings will begin with a review of his stitched paper artwork. Then he will delight us with examples of where quilters can find inspiration in the world around us, and how his journey as a maker has taken him from gallery artist into the world of modern quilting.
David is a quilt designer and instructor, graphic designer, artist, and creative coach. David has been knitting and sewing since he was a child. He has also created some of his own textiles through dyeing and painting, incorporating these fabrics into quilts and wall hangings. David’s graphic design business focuses on helping nonprofit organizations with their branding, websites and print publications. In his artwork, David explores patterns, shapes, colors, and textures found in nature. His paper-based artwork often incorporates monotype printing, sometimes mixed with photography, and is stitched with a sewing machine.
David offers one-on-one coaching, branding, and design consultation for creative people of all types. He was the 2020 President of the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild.
