Learn to Hand Quilt
This 3 hour workshop is for the confident beginner who is ready to try hand quilting. AAQG member Cheryl Degan will teach the class at her longarm quilting studio in Southwest Austin. Cheryl has won numerous awards for hand quilting including the "Merit Hand Quilting" award at the Dallas quilt show. Students will walk away with hands-on experience quilting a 20" x 20" whole cloth square suitable for making a 16"x16" throw pillow. The photo below shows the machine basted quilt sandwich you will be working on.

Required Supplies:
Your $15 kit will include a 20" x20" pre-marked, pre-basted whole quilt sandwich with wool batting (as shown in the photo above), quilting needle and a spool of quilting thread. Students will remove basting stitches one section at a time and hand quilt along the lines left by the basting stitches.
You will need to bring:
quilting hoop, 14"- 16" round hoop recommended
thimble that fits middle finger
seam ripper
small scissors or snips to cut thread
note taking supplies
