Monthly Evening Guild Meeting - Swing Coats: A Civil Rights Tribute:Lecture and Trunk Show with Patricia Montgomery

Patricia A. Montgomery is a textile and installation artist. Her historical story quilts, exhibited at International Quilt Festival Houston, Special Exhibition, in 2017, transformed into a swing coat represents individuals from the Civil Rights Movement. These swing coats tell the stories of unknown heroines and their major contribution to the most important movement of the twentieth century. Montgomery has exhibited these swing coats in multiple national venues. Now, she is known as the “Coat Lady”.  Her recent coat title "Wedding Coat: The Story About Domestic Violence" was awarded in 2018 Best of Show in the Wearable Art Competition at the Pacific International Quilt Festival.
