String your appliqué to a whole new level of fun!

Skill level: All levels welcome (Confident beginner and up)

Dive into a vibrant world of scraps, strings, and creativity with the String-pliqué® technique—a cheerful twist on fused appliqué that turns fabric strips into bold, expressive designs.  Rooted in tradition, string quilting has been found in American quilts for over a century—treasured for its resourcefulness, color, and charm. 

This modern take honors that legacy while adding fresh flair and playful possibilities.

In this workshop, you’ll choose from several whimsical patterns, including:

• Crazy Daisy – A blooming burst of color (14" x 18")

• HeartStrings – A sweet scatter of scrappy hearts (22" x 22")

• Scotties on a String – Spunky little terriers with “paws-itive” personality (22" x 22")

  Whether you lean toward bold rainbows or subtle scrappy blends, the design possibilities are as limitless as your fabric basket.

  Pattern & Foundation Fabric Fee: $15

• All pattern sizes are included 

Class Fee Members: $55.00 (opens 12/1/26) + $15 Required Kit Fee

Class Fee Non-Members: $70.00 (available 12/31/26) + $15 Required Kit Fee

String-pliqué Supply List:

String-pliqué Pattern and Foundation material are included in the $15 kit fee.

You will need to bring:

• Fusible (your choice but a light weight fusible please!)

• Background fabric: 1 Fat Quarter

• Scraps of a variety of fabrics (20-25 different). You DO NOT need anything larger than a 4” x 6” piece. These will be used to create your quilt so make sure they contrast with your background fabric.

• You may also be able to swap fabrics with other students to achieve more variety if desired.

• Batting and backing (just in case you get ready to quilt!)

Proper feet for quarter inch seam and zig-zag

Neutral sewing thread

Thread to match fabrics for machine appliqué

Scissors (paper and fabric cutting)
