Students will create a vest or small wall quilt that will "speak" for them. Using a traditional or a contemporary pattern each student will be encouraged to create a one of a kind work that is reflective of the creator's personality or ethnicity or expresses a social or political sentiment and/or express a sense of humor. A variety of construction and embellishment techniques will be explored. Students will be encouraged to mix contrasting prints, explore ethnic fabrics, colors and textures and to add buttons, ribbons, beads or whatever is necessary to make the quilt into a personal statement.
